Whiteshill U12’s 0 - Kings Stanley 9

Played at Kings Stanley Village Hall (as the Whiteshill pitch was un-marked), 26th April 2008, KO 10.30. League game.

The sun shone at Stanley's ground. But not on the Whiteshill's team

Last time these two met, Whiteshill were leading 3-2, with goals from Maxwell, Parnell and Moore, and then had their defence shredded in the last ten minutes and lost 5-3!

This time, their defence unravelled early. All to often Stanley found themselves with only keeper Morton to beat. And they did, 4 times in the first half. The few chances they had, from Moore and Maxwell were off target. In the 2nd half, with Whiteshill's defence playing like Derby County on an off day, things got worse. At times the pitch resembled a battlefield, with Saunders felled, left hobbling, after a knee high tackle; then Cottle studded and carried off, then finally, Maxwell on a run, dangerously up-ended landing on his head.

Not surprisingly, battle fatigue set in, and comprehensively outplayed conceded a further 5 goals, before, relief all round, when the whistle blew to end the torment. Final score 9-0.

Whiteshill U12’s 2 - Stonehouse 6

Played at Stonehouse (as the Whiteshill pitch was un-marked), 27th April 2008, KO 10.30. League game.

Next day Whiteshill faced the tough prospect of Stonehouse, who won narrowly last time.

Would the troops be jaded after yesterdays Stanley barrage? Not a bit. Soaking up Stonehouse pressure, with Cottle, Saunders, Dowling and Towler, commanding in defence, Rush-Taylor, and Parnell with probing runs and Maxwell scampering up front, Whiteshill frustrated Stonehouse's attacks. With midfield dynamo Moore at the heart of attacks, it was an even contest.

Then, against the run of play Stonehouse scored from close range 1-0. A Whiteshill corner scrabbled away. Another corner. Maxwell, in the thick of it sustained an eye injury. Off he came. On came the nippy Jones, who saw his first effort whistle past the post, Saunders' fine shot was well saved. A super cross from man of the match Stephen Wakefield, Parnell pounced. A great save. A lob from Rush-Taylor well taken by Stonehouse keeper. Things were looking up. Yesterdays's troubles seemed so far away. Half time. 1-0.

Whiteshill continued where they'd left off. Another Parnell effort saved. Saunders denied. Rush-Taylor gave way to Sidibeh. An overhead shot from Jones, palmed away. Finally, Whiteshill, via a Parnell tap-in deservedly made it 1-1. But Stonehouse struck back immediately - chipping over Morton. 1-2.

Stonehouse, two more soft goals quickly followed, and it was 4-1. Then 5, when a fierce shot ricochetted in off the post. Maxwell back on, quickly latched onto a Toyler pass and headed goal wards. He angled shot found the back of the net. 5-2. A fine pass by sub Douch found Parnell who was dispossessed. Last chance fell to Stonehouse. They didn't miss. 6-2. Final score. A plucky performance by Whiteshill who narrowly avoided a double digit defeat the day before, and might well have achieved parity was it not for squandered chances in the first half.

Whiteshill's man of the match for both the Kings Stanley and Stonehouse games was Stephen Wakefield.

Kings Stanley 5 - Whiteshill U12’s 3

Played at Kings Stanley Village Hall, 30th March 2008, KO 10.30. League game.

Would Kings Stanley's table-topping reign be toppled by 'third-in-line' Whiteshill?

It looked like it for much of the first half. Stanley weren't amused by the all out attacking play. A great pass from Rush-Taylor to Steve Wakefield whose cross Maxwell narrowly failed to get on the end of. Then a long shot from Saunders well taken by Stanley's keeper. Rush-Taylor to Moore, back to Rush-Taylor - a breathtaking move which saw Rush-Taylor's shot skim wide.

Gradually Kings Stanley eased back into the game - keeping Whiteshill's determined defenders Cottle, Towler and Saunders busy. Stanley were awarded a free kick, just outside area. It was duly whipped past keeper Morton. Against the run of play Stanley were one up. Then Maxwell, skilfully controlled a long bouncing clearance from keeper Morton, and saw his chipped shot bulge the back of the net. A peach of a goal. 1-1. Half time.

Kings Stanley resumed quick on the break, with good crosses and passing troubling a nervy Whiteshill defence. Then an 'after you squire' muddle in defence, ended with a close range shot beating keeper Morton. 2-1. Whiteshill responded. A Maxwell run, a lovely pass to Parnell, whose crisp shot found the back of the net. 2-2. A fine Parnell cross to the nippy Moore. He made no mistake. 2-3. A long shot gave Morton no chance 3-3. A long clearance from Stanley's keeper beat Whiteshill's defence, again, leaving Morton to pick the ball from the back of the net. 4-3. Oh no!

Whiteshill shuffled the pack. Rush-Taylor and Maxwell left the field. Burns and Sidibeh on...followed by Douch for Moore. Whiteshill now under the cosh. A brave diving save by Morton at the feet of a Stanley attacker prevented a certain goal. Despite the heroics of Cottle, Ryall, Jones and Towler, Whiteshill succumbed to a neatly taken goal from a throw in the final minutes. 5-3. A humdinger, and much closer than the final score suggests.

Tom Parnell pipped Jordan Maxwell and Finn Rush-Taylor as Whiteshill parent's nominated man of the match.

Whiteshill U12’s 2 – Frampton United 3

Played at Whiteshill, 23rd March 2008, KO 10.30. League game.

United turned up late, but quickly got down to business. One goal up in one minute!

Dangerous on the break. For a time Whiteshill were dazzled by United's speed and skills. With 'Big Ben's' Toyler and Ryall taking command in midfield, Whiteshill surged forward. In Jordan Maxwell they had a forward who with his speed and touch, troubled United defence. A shot skimmed past the post. Then came United's second. Josh Morton only able to palm a loopy shot into the top of his net. 2-0. Fine defending by Ollie Cottle, George Dowling and Kierren Saunders were able to muffle United's attack. Half time. 2-0.

Kairo Sidebeh, on for the tireless Andy Jones. Whiteshill went into a huddle. Whatever happened while huddling worked. United immediately under pressure. Finn Rush Taylor and Tom Parnell creating openings. Sidebeh saw his shot skew wide. Then a superb header by Saunders from a Parnell floater just over the bar, with Uniteds keeper rooted. A Saunders through ball to Maxwell. Quick as a flash he had it in the back of Uniteds net. 2-1. Frampton, stirred by this, pressed hard. Another lobbed shot had Morton stretching, but not enough. 3-1.

All over? Never is for Whiteshill. A Saunders lob just over. Then a great Ryall pass found Maxwell, who despite being the jam in a United sandwich wriggled through, his shot flummoxing the United keeper. 3-2. Whiteshill's defence put up the NO ENTRY sign; with keeper Morton in acrobatic form between the sticks, and Maxwell a constant threat well supported by Sidebeh up front. United had to work hard to hang on to their slender lead.

A resolute performance by Whiteshill against a well drilled and skilled United.

Whiteshill parents nominated Jordan Maxwell as their man of the match.

Thornbury Falcons 7 – Whiteshill U12’s 2

Played at Thornbury, 16th March 2008, KO 12.30. League game.

On a pitch more suited to pigs than players, Whiteshill wallowed.

Whilst they got stuck in the mud, the Falcons got stuck in. Within minutes they were 1-0 up from a close range header, following a corner.

Whiteshill stopped wallowing and came close. A good through pass from Jordan Maxwell found Steve Wakefield, whose shot was well taken by the Falcons keeper. With Whiteshill throwing everything into attack, Falcons were always quick to break. Determined defending by never-say-die Kierren Saunders, backed up by big Ben Towler, George Dowling and Ollie Cottle kept the Falcons at bay. But then, failure to clear in a goal mouth melleé the Falcons pounced with a simple tap in. 2-0.

Whiteshill with Wakefield, Maxwell and Finn Rush-Taylor troubling the Falcons defence. Rush-Taylor's fine shot was booted off the line by the Falcons keeper. A lovely pass by Tom Parnell to Saunders, saw him crisply beat the Falcon's keeper. 2-1. Whiteshill created chances, but failed to capitalize. An angled shot by Maxwell whiskered past the post. Wakefield saw his shot bounce off the bar onto the goal line and out. Fortune favoured the Falcons. Jack Burns always in the thick of it, came off. On came Connor Moore whose terrier like play helped keep the score 2-2 at half time.

Maxwell off. Andy Jones on. And from the kick off, Wakefield lost the ball to a Falcon, who ran unopposed to blast the ball past a stunned Josh Morton. 3-1. It looked as if it was all over, when a neat close range header made it 4-1. Whiteshill though, didn't think it was. They soon replied in kind with a deft header by the in-form Steve "Back-of-the-Net" Wakefield, from a pin point cross by Rush-Taylor. 4-2.

Despite Morton's heroics between the posts, another goal from Falcons no: 3 made it 5-2. Muddied but unbowed, Whiteshill kept going, but could do nothing to stop the Falcons snatching another two in the dying minutes. 7-2.

Whiteshill parents nominated the all-action-man Kierren Saunders as their man of the match.

Whiteshill U12's 6 - Randwick 0

Played at Whiteshill, 2nd March 2008, KO 10.30am. League game.

With 14 goals against plucky Randwick so far, Whiteshill's appetite for more was clear from the off.

With keeper Josh Morton being given the chance to stretch his legs up front, he latched onto a lovely through-ball from Connor Moore. His low shot, on target. 1-0.

A good effort from Moore went tantalising wide. With Ben Toyler and George Downey sharp at the back, Randwick attacks were blunted. Whiteshill surged forward, prodded by Adam Douch's passing, but found Randwick in resilient mood. But hungry Whiteshill were in no mood to sit back on a slender lead.

A blistering shot from Ben Ryall, gave Randwick's keeper no chance 2-0. Then Jordan Maxwell netted, only to be ruled offside. With Kierran Saunders giving a commanding performance in midfield, and wingers Andy Jones and Kairo Sidebeh quick off the mark, several off-sides rescued Randwick, who hung on with the score still 2-0 at half time.

Reporter: Douglas Maxwell

Whiteshill continued to bombard, with Sidebeh, Maxwell and Moore's shots going wide. Lots of oohing and aahing from the touchline! Then Finn Rush-Taylor produced a long-range sizzler. 3-0. An own goal following some pinball stuff in the penalty area made it 4-0. With a well-taken goal Jack Burns deservedly added his name to the score sheet 5-0. A great run from Saunders saw his crisp shot well saved. Then a cracker from Tom Parnell just inside the Randwick half surprised not only the Randwick keeper but everybody else too! 6-0. Final score.

For a committed performance in defence and attack, Whiteshill parents nominated Kierran Saunders as their man of the match. Well done.

Whiteshill U12's 5 - Thornbury 2

Played at Whiteshill, 24th February 2008, KO 10.00am. League game.

After last week's frosty reception at Hardwicke (match called off, pitch as hard as a Vinnie Jones tackle), would unbeaten Thornbury stay that way?

It looked on the cards when they went 1-0 up after 5 minutes. With Ollie Cottle's resolute in defence, and keeper Josh Morton's confidence between the sticks, the tide turned. Whiteshill, with Tom Parnell, Jordan Maxwell and Jack Burns attacking with gusto, Thornbury's defence conceded a corner. From the pinball melee the ball came to Jack Burns who hooked it into the top of the net. 1-1.

A long looping shot from Parnell was well taken by Thornbury's keeper. Then Parnell found himself in space and coolly slotted home. 2-1. A half chance from Maxwell was scrambled away. Thornbury's penalty area was now being peppered by Whiteshill's assaults.

With the support of Finn Rush-Taylor's runs, and with Ben Ryall, George Dowling and big Ben Towler soaking up the pressure up at the back, the ball came to Steven Wakefield whose cracking long shot left the Thornbury keeper a spectator, 3-1. Half time.

Maxwell off. Andy Jones on.

Thornbury, clearly shaken, stirred. A free kick to Thornbury. A scooped shot gave Morton no chance. 3-2.

It wasn't all over! Jones off, Sidebeh on. Two corners to Thornbury followed. But with keeper Morton in sparkling form, and some last ditch defending, Whiteshill weren't interested in parity. Burns off. The redoubtable Douch on. With attack the best form of defence a Sidebeh shot was scrambled away. Sidebeh, again produced a gem of a cross, which Parnell skilfully polished off. 4-2. Then from a hooked clearance Rush-Taylor's speculative long distance lob left the Thornbury keeper stranded. 5-2.

Whiteshill's best all round team performance so far brought Thornbury's run to an end.

Whiteshill parents nominated Josh Morton as their man of the match.

Stonehouse 3 – Whiteshill U12’s 2

Played at Stonehouse, 10th February 2008, KO 10.30am. League game.

On a beautiful sunny morning Stonehouse defeated Whiteshill with a late winner in a hard fought game.

Whiteshill bossed much of the first half, but it was Stonehouse who took their chances, and went into the break 2-0 up.

Whiteshill swapped things around in the second half. Stephen Wakefield pressured the Stonehouse defence into a mistake and expertly scored from an acute angle. 2-1. He then ran on to a Jack Burns through ball and was roughly fouled inside the box. The man in black pointed to the spot, penalty! Wakefield coolly slotted the spot kick. 2-2.

Ollie Cottle retired injured, and the versatile Kierran Saunders moved into defence after starting upfront and then midfield.

With the game nearing the end, Stonehouse broke rapidly, and slotted home for the winner. Whiteshill will surely look forward to the return game.

Whiteshill parents nominated Stephen Wakefield as their man of the match.

Whiteshill U12's 6 - Minchinhampton 0

Played at Whiteshill, 3rd February 2008, KO 10.30am. League game.

With the weather cold enough to freeze peas, Minch's long ball tactics kept Whiteshill's defence warm! And their tepid attacks easily snuffed out.

But not for long. Andy Jones latched on to a long ball and cooly scooped it over the Minch keeper. 1-0. Then Tom Parnell ran on to a good pass and gave the Minch keeper no chance. 2-0. With Ben-the-boot Toyler and George Dowling in command at the back; Connor Moore and Adam Douch bossing the midfield, and Finn Rush Taylor's forays down the wing, Minch were denied.

Just after half time Tom Parnell was on target again. 3-0. Kairo Sidebeh quickly made amends for slashing the ball wide, when his goal bound shot went in, helped on its way by a Minch defender. 4-0.

Maxwell came back on. Moore's pass found him unmarked, and his angled shot beat the Minch keeper. 5-0. Maxwell again, received the ball from Matthew Rowan. His close range shot made it 6-0.

Minch, despite an improved and spirited performance, found Whiteshill's attack too ‘hot’ to handle on an arctic day.

Whiteshill parents nominated Ben Toylor as their man of the match.

Whiteshill U12's 0 - Thornbury U12's 5

Played at Whiteshill, 27th January 2008, KO 10.30am. WC Cup game.

From the off, Thornbury were all over Whiteshill like a rash. Slick passing, running off the ball, had Whiteshill chasing shadows.

Keeper Josh Morton made a reflex one-foot save but couldn't stop a crisp shot from a whipped-in cross, 1-0. Whiteshill failed to clear a sizzler of a shot leaving keeper Morton rooted. 2-0.

To Thornbury's surprise, they suddenly found themselves defending. Finn Rush-Taylor's dogged determination earned Whiteshill a corner. Then a good shot from Ben Ryall deflected behind for another corner. With midfield general Connor Moore calling the shots, and never-say-die Kierren Saunders' tackling, Thornbury's sharp attacking play was blunted.

But not for long. A floated cross was headed past Morton from close range. 3-0. With Steve Wakefield off injured, on came Jordan Maxwell. Full steam into the Thornbury penalty area he just failed to make contact with a Tom Parnell cross. Then a free kick to Thornbury and it was 4-0. Half time.

Wakefield and Rowan on. Whiteshill pressed forward. A Stephen Wakefield shot was saved. Saunders spooned his shot over the bar. Four corners on the bounce followed for Whiteshill. Maxwell came back on.

Thornbury were quick on the break with Whiteshill's defence nowhere. And it was 5-0. A pass to Maxwell. He sped into the Thornbury penalty area only to see his shot well saved. A rasping long shot followed from Tom Parnell, which troubled the Thornbury keeper.

If only Whiteshill had played like this in the first half, when they were out fought, and out thought by a skilful Thornbury side. The Final score 5-0 to Thornbury.

Whiteshill parents nominated Connor Moore as their man of the match.

Randwick 1 - Whiteshill U12's 5

Played at Archway School, 13th January 2008, KO 11.00am. WC Cup game.

Whiteshill's good run continues.
This time in the WC Cup.

If, following a good trouncing of Randwick last week, Whiteshill thought this would be a cup-cake-walk they were wrong. With their penalty area as crowded as a First Great Western Train, Randwick's 'A' team had a plan.

And for a while it worked. Conceding five corners in as many minutes. But then, luck ran out for their plucky keeper who parried Finn Rush-Taylor's shot, which he duly returned to the back of the net. 1-0.

A free kick found Connor Moore who threaded a way through the melee. 2-0. More corners. Jordan Maxwell then saw his crisp shot well saved.

Randwick's Harry 'always a handful' Lear was brought down in their first real attack. A free-kick. Whiteshill's keeper Josh Morton, no longer a spectator, gathered and cleared. Another Whiteshill attack saw Maxwell's snatched shot bobble past the post. Should have been 3. It wasn't long before it was. A string of passes found Tom Parnell whose fine shot bulged the net. 3-0.

Off came Maxwell and Moore. Job done. On came Adam Douch and Kairo Sidebeh. With Douch's deft passing Whiteshill were able to keep Randwick pegged back. Half time. 3-0.

With Randwick's 'Ronaldo', Harry Lear always a teasing threat, Whiteshill's tough trio of Ollie Cottle, Kierren Saunders and Ben Toyler were kept busy. Then Saunders' scored with a well taken shot. 4-0.

With Randwicks defence muddied and muddled, Sidebeh pounced. 5-0. A determined and skilful run by Lear ended with his crossed pass catching Whiteshill napping. A cheer went up from all the supporters. Yes, Randwick had at last scored! 5-1, which was how it ended.

Randwick, with the best player on the park in Harry Lear, made the better team battle all way into the next round of the RA cup.

Whiteshill parents nominated Ollie Cottle as their man of the match, Again!!!

Whiteshill U12's 9 - Randwick 0

Played at Whiteshill, 6th January 2007, KO 10.30am. League game.

Avalanche at Whiteshill!

Within five minutes of the kick-off, Whiteshill had Randwick reeling. A pinpoint pass from Connor Moore found Jordan Maxwell. His coruscating run ended with him slotting the ball past the Randwick keeper. 1-0. Minutes later a long looping speculative shot from Finn Rush-Taylor left Randwick keeper stranded. 2-0. A through ball found Maxwell once again and he duly found the back of the net. 3-0. Another long-range belter from Steven Wakefield made it. 4-0.

Randwick were being run ragged. When they did managed to escape from their own half, Randwick found Whiteshill’s midfield general Moore, a tenacious Oliver Cottle and George Dowling-Burridge waiting for them!

Then a lovely finish from Maxwell was ruled offside by a whisker; followed by a shot from Moore that skimmed past the post. On came Adam Douch and Kairo Sidebeh for Moore and Maxwell. Ollie Cottle pounced on a shot parried by Randwick’s keeper. 5-0. Parnell added another just before half time. 6-0.

All credit to Randwick. They didn't give up, and had Whiteshill's defence wobbling, but not for long. Then the doughty Kierran Saunders made it 7-0 with a tasty chip over Randwick's keeper. Parnell netted again. 8-0. Andy Jones came off. Matt Rowan on. Parnell on target again 9-0. Maxwell back on. The final chance fell to Rowan, who with Maxwell unmarked in front of a gaping goal decided to go for glory and blasted wide.

A fine team effort from Whiteshill. Randwick won't be looking forward to their next game though...it's Whiteshill in the cup!

Whiteshill parents nominated Connor Moore as their man of the match.

Frampton Youth U12's 9 - Whiteshill U12's 2

Played at Frampton, 25th November 2007, KO 10.30am. League game.

From the off Frampton's fast and furious pace and passing saw Whiteshills defence at permanent panic stations. Keeper Josh Morton faced a torrid time.

Within 5 minutes Frampton scored. Despite valiant effort by Ben's, Toyler and Ryall, backed by George Dowling Burridge and midfielder Connor Moore, Frampton swept past. Corner after corner conceded. Dogged stuff from doughty Kierren Saunders. A glimmer of hope saw forward Jordan Maxwell's pacy run and pass remind Frampton that there were two teams on the park!

Whiteshill U12's team talk

Having survived the early bombardment... at last, with some good passing from Ollie Cottle, Matt Rowan and Tom Parnell, Whiteshill attacked. Rowan's snappy shot parried, fell to Maxwell whose reflex poke was well saved. Stirred, but not shaken, Frampton swept forward. Two more goals. 3-0. Another Frampton corner. Toylers knee deflected the shot past a diving Morton. 4-0. Maxwell then gets the ball, rounds a defender and passes to the equally nippy Andy Jones, who slots past a surprised Frampton keeper. 4-1. On comes the deft touches of Douch.

Half time. Frampton pressure is soon rewarded, following a fine effort by Kierren Saunders, with 4 more goals. From the off, Minch felt the pinch!

Whiteshill confident. An early cross from Kairo Sidebeh troubled the Minch keeper. A fine tackle from Minch robbed Connor Moore of a great opportunity. Then a desultory clearance was pounced on by Moore. 1-0. Again a fine move, with Sidebeh the provider, Moore's shot whistled by the post.

Whiteshill U12's 4 - Hardwicke 4

Played at Whiteshill, 30th September 2007, KO 10.30am. WC Cup game.

A Gordon Brown nail-biter at Whiteshill's bucolic base.

But it didn't look that way in the first half with Whiteshill giving Hardwicke's defence a hard time. Some nifty passing between Jack Burns and Tom Parnell finished with a floater of a cross. Harwickes keeper butterfingered it, and Matthew Rowan pounced and stabbed it in. 1-0.

Another weighted pass from Connor Moore, who had come close, came to Kairo Sidebeh whose crisp shot left Hardwicke's keeper a spectator. 2-0.

Whiteshill U12's team talk

2nd half. A different story. Harwicke hustled. Whiteshill's nippy Sidebeh felled. Free kick. Finn Rush-Taylor produced a sizzler. 3-0.

Hardwicke responded. A long shot found the top corner 3-1. Whiteshill under the cosh now. Long balls leaving defenders stranded. Soon it was 3-2. Whiteshill's shape and concentration now hazy. Another long ball from Hardwicke. A shot ricocheted in off the post. 3-3.

Wakey! Wakey! Whiteshill. Desperate defending. A Hardwicke shot found the net via a Whiteshill player. 3-4. Hardwicke now thought it was all over. It wasn't. In the last minute a Steve Wakefield corner was scrabbled in by Tom Parnell. Phew! 4-4.

A reminder to Whiteshill that as they say "it's a game of two halves"!

Whiteshill chose Kairo Sidebeh as their man of the match.

Randwick 0 - Whiteshill U12's 4

Played at Archway School, 16th September 2007, KO 11am. League game.

Whiteshill U12's team talk

A big pitch, more space between the posts and a man-in-black in charge, saw Whiteshill's 'Blues' dominate a scruffy kind of game.

From the off, the Whiteshill half was rarely visited by Randwick's attack. When they did, they were sent packing by Whiteshill's 'Crouch', Ben Tyler, Ben Ryall and Ollie Cottle.

Up front Connor Moore and Jordan Maxwell buzzed. A clearance found its way to Maxwell whose pass found Jack Burns, who duly found the back of the Randwick net. 1-0.

Under siege, Randwick conceded corners. Burns again, narrowly missed. As did a fine effort from Stephen Wakefield. A good run from Moore ended with his shot going wide. Another goal was inevitable. It came with an unstoppable scorcher from Tom Parnell. 2-0. Off came Moore, on came Kairo Sidebeh. Whiteshill swept forward, with George Dowling-Burridge and Finn Rush-Taylor sweeping up at the back, another goal came from a long range whack from Ben Ryall. 3-0.

Whiteshill U12's

Half time. The second half saw Whiteshill making chance after chance and plucky Randwick making the occasional foray into foreign territory, but failing to wobble the Whiteshill defence. A goal mouth scramble saw Matt Rowan make it 4-0. Whiteshill's keeper will have busier days than this, and his attack will meet stiffer resistance, and have to convert those chances.

As the great Bill Shankley said: "If you're in the penalty area and are not sure what to do with the ball, stick it in the net, and we'll discuss all options later!" Good advice lads!

Whiteshill chose Tom Parnell as their man of the match.

Whiteshill Squad: Matthew Rowan, Jack Burns, Tom Parnell, Ben Ryall, Ollie Cottle, Finn Rush-Taylor, Connor Moore, Steve Wakefield, Jordan Maxwell, Ben Tyler, George Dowling-Burridge and Kairo Sidibeh.

Whiteshill U15's 4 - Golden Valley 3

Played at Whiteshill, 16th September 2007, KO 2.30pm.

Whiteshill started very brightly scoring twice and had all of the play in the half. Goalkeeper Dave Holmes had an easy time of it, only occaisionly having to come out and clear a through ball.

After the restart for the second half Whiteshill helped out the opposition with two freak own goals in the first five minutes. To make matters worse Golden Valley slotted a good goal a few minutes later, leaving Whiteshill to wonder how they were 3-2 behind!

Gradually they pulled their heads together and began to play with Louis Blyth scoring from all of 25 yards, for the second game in a row. The game ended with literally the last kick of the game, a penalty for hand ball. Jamie Ettenfield drove the penalty kick past the keeper straight down the middle, after which the referee blew the final whistle with not even time for the restart! Well done Whiteshill.
